TWO O'Sullivan Gatherings planned, one in Sneem and the other in Glengarriff:
Below please find the announcements for two O'Sullivan Clan gatherings in 2013. Neither of these events are sponsored by, affiliated with, or endorsed by the International O'Sullivan Clan (despite the one held in Glengarriff being called the "International O'Sullivan Clan Gathering").
Hopefully both will be great successes!
The O’Sullivan Gathering 2013
Sneem, Co. Kerry
Monday June 10th – Sunday 16th June
The O'Sullivans were one of the principal families of Munster and the name O’Sullivan and its variant forms is the third most numerous surname in Ireland. There is an estimated 41 500 bearers of the name resident in Ireland at the present time however we must not forget there is possibly ten times that in total of O’Sullivans living outside the shores of Ireland, in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, England, Europe, the African Continent and to the lesser extent Asia and the rest of the World.
We are inviting the O’Sullivans and their descendants to Sneem for a Gathering taking place from 10th – 16th June 2013. Situated on the scenic Ring of Kerry on the Iveragh Peninsula, Sneem (the Knot in the Ring) is an ancient stronghold of the O'Sullivans. The week will provide the a great opportunity to explore the ancestory of the O’Sullivans, with genealogy workshops daily, guided trips and walks to ancient O’Sullivan castles at Dunkerron near Sneem and across Kenmare Bay to the ruins of Dunboy Castle on the Beara Peninsula and walks to O’Sullivan homesteads around the area. Witness the traditional rivalry between the O’Sullivan Mors and the O’Sullivan Beres in gaelic football matches and coastal rowing displays.
There will be nightly entertainment provided, with a gala opening night in Sneem Hotel with entertainment provided by renowned seanachaí (storyteller) Batt Burns, popular singer and seanachaí from Cork, Seán Ó Sé and traditional Irish musicians and dancers. Another popular singer, Patrick O’Sullivan, will be performing in the hotel on Wednesday night. There will be traditional music and sessions in the local pubs throughout the week.
One of the highlights of the week will be an attempt on Saturday 15th to break the Guinness Book of Records Clan Gathering which is currently held by a gathering of 1488 Gallaghers in Donegal in 2007. So if you are an O’Sullivan, Sneem is the place to be this June.

The Five Star Capella Dunboy Hotel, Castletownbere, Cork, Beara, Ireland
Eoghan O'Sullivan of Dublin, Ireland has assumed the Chair for our committee to plan and execute a clan gathering some time in the future. More information to follow.
It appears that the majority of the respondents of our recent survey favor Castletownbere as the site for a 2012 O'Sullivan Clan gathering. The month of June was the preferred time. The planning of this event will be predicated on the amount of interest and genuine intention to attend. If you are certain that you would attend such an event please send a note of interest to email@example.com .
